SAPACC Certifies 11 C-SAPAs in 2008-2009
Portland, OR - December 2009
SAPACC, the internationally recognized Substance Abuse Program Administrators’ Certification Commission, announces that eleven drug and alcohol testing industry professionals have earned the distinguished title of Certified Substance Abuse Program Administrator (C-SAPA) in 2008-2009.

There are now 112 C-SAPAs in good standing.

Holly Will Verifications, Inc Bismarck, NDThe C-SAPA certification examination is a rigorous and comprehensive exam developed according to standard psychometric principles, and is the only one of its kind in the drug-free workplace industry.

The exam consists of items related to a number of federal regulatory agencies including DOT and its operating agencies, plus NRC, DOE, DOD, and non-regulated drug and alcohol testing. The 2008-2009 exams were administered by proctor in ten cities around the country.
In order to qualify as a C-SAPA, a candidate must have 4000-6000 hours of verifiable practical experience in the industry, at least 40 hours of training, and pass the certification examination. The candidate’s experience and training must be in at least four of the seven following disciplines:
1. Compliance with applicable federal and state laws
2. Development of drug-free workplace policies and procedures
3. Administration of drug and alcohol testing programs
4. Performance or supervision of specimen collection and/or alcohol testing procedures
5. Medical Review Officer (MRO) interaction/supervision
6. Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) interaction/supervision
7. Preparation and/or delivery of drug-free workplace training
The C-SAPA certification is renewable every three years with the completion of 24 continuing education hours in the workplace drug and alcohol testing field.
